Saving Time
For several decades, business technology platforms have enabled practices to track performance metrics that they have customised. This highlights areas that qualify for improvement and underpins strategic planning.

As organisations migrate to Windows 10 many will use it as an opportunity to improve other parts of their information systems. Refreshing the tools you use to work with and manage documents all at once can have a positive impact on costs and save a whole lot of time and stress. There are, however, many products available that promise to solve a problem. How will you know which one to pick?
1. Decide what is and isn’t working with your current set-up
The first step in replacing outdated legacy software with more powerful tools is understanding what the product needs to do for it to be successful. It could be PDF software that has basic and advanced functionality, so it works for everyone in the business. Or, it could be as simple as needing applications that work in Windows 10 without glitches or lag-time. If existing software can’t tick all of the boxes, then it is time to rethink and refresh your existing software.
2. Review the products on the market
Solutions on the market may offer whiz-bang features that aren’t helpful to your users. The features available may potentially streamline your business but will your end-users adopt them? It’s important to evaluate what factors are crucial to your business and look for them in the products readily available on the market. It could be simple things such as DMS integration or a user-friendly interface. If users are working in the cloud, then the technology provider would need to offer cloud versions of their desktop products. These are the types of features you should think about when you are upgrading.
Consider that there may be brand new products available now that weren’t available when you first purchased productivity software many years ago. If a current technology partner has come out with a suitable product it could be an opportunity to streamline systems, technical support, and billing all in one go.
3. Do a feature comparison
Draw up a feature comparison table to evaluate different products and features. Once the information is plotted it’s possible there may be a clear winner. If not, add weighting to the features that are most likely to enhance productivity. Look for opportunities to streamline and simplify without disrupting users. Remember, it is often possible to trial software before committing to purchase, so be sure to take advantage of this.
